he enlisted in the 20th Regiment of Foot.

In September 1841 he was in Bermuda, West Indies where
my great(x2) grandmother, Mary Ann Turner was born in 1843.

He was discharged from the army on 25 August 1846 and moved to Salford
near Manchester where he and Elizabeth had two more children.
